Once upon a time, a little brown
puppy fell in love with a little girl. The
relationship blossomed, and was set in motion. More
than a quarter of a century on, the love affair with
Irish Water Spaniels continues.
Shawn chose Bianca as his
companion just as soon as he could waddle. He would
wait by the gate every afternoon for the school bus
to bring his mistress home and would hold long and
meaningful discussions with her about the day’s
happenings.
Shawn was to be Bianca’s
introduction to obedience training and hunting.
Unfortunately he found Novice trials dead set boring
after the excitement of Open Obedience and field
training. The adjoining rings were always of
greater interest – those dogs looked looked they
were having FUN!
He was her partner in Junior
Showmanship events as Bianca honed in the skills
that have seen her become an accomplished handler.
Under a professional handler and Gundog breeder from
the States, they accounted for a well deserved Royal
Best of Breed.
Shawn was to be Bianca’s first
model for coat preparation for the ring. He doubled
as her first ‘Standard Poodle’ as another great
breed love surfaced. A Standard Poodle resides in
Bianca’s home to this day.
Shawn was lost far too early to
cancer. He was to live on in his beautiful daughter
Sinead (Ch Tirriki Sinead O’Shawn ET) for some
fourteen years.
He rests with his family and
beautiful Teddy Bear roses in our front yard, a
mischievous leprechaun lighting his way.

takes away the edge of grief,
