What
can I say? Dougie wants to stay!
He was the spitting image of his
Grandpappy Casey at four months of age, so sometimes
one just has to go with the heart.
A placid, gentle puppy who loved
nothing more than to be by my side, Dougie made his
feelings towards both Peter and myself as well as
Casey felt right from the start. With the diagnosis
of my chronic heart condition, he was by far the
most suited to me in the litter of exuberant bundles
of little bears. Just like Brooke so many years
before, Dougie chose me – what an honour!
Dougie’s name was taken from the RAF
ID collar he has worn since a baby. He just had to
be Bomber Douglas Bader, what a hero and legend.
(Peter named him Bomber - just added my touch). A
very dear friend who allowed me the great privilege
of sharing his hunting with my precious Bracken (Ch
Rawdonred Penbracken ET RTQC FTQC CDX) is Peter
Douglas. This Dougie was also a great champion to
me as without his generous character, I would never
have been able to experience a time in my life of
unforgettable memories. Bracken’s ¾ brother Brooke
Started It all With a Kiss way back at Melbourne
Royal September 1979, and Bracken simply reinforced
that I would ALWAYS want to share my life with an
Irish Water Spaniel.
Dougie has given Grandpappy Casey a
new lease on life as they revel in each other's
company.
My grateful thanks to Dougie's
friends for handling him for me.
I am immensely proud of his BEST
EXHIBIT/BEST PUPPY IN GROUP award at an All Breeds
Championship Show at barely 101/2 months
of age. Thank you Caroline for a great job!
